3 YEAR Program

The Program


Computer and Information Sciences program is designed to prepare students to repair & maintain computers and to achieve their CompTIA IT Fundamentals and CompTIA A+ certifications. These nationally known certifications are vendor neutral and are recognized by major companies worldwide. Their focus is on PC hardware and software repair, and networking. The students will gain knowledge of how to perform tasks such as installations, configuration, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance of a PC. Students learn the skills through hands on activities, research projects, and textbook assignments. The network portion focuses on the features and functions of networking components, and installing, configuring and troubleshooting basic networking hardware and services.

An Applicant needs to:

Upon graduation, a successful student is equipped with the knowledge and skills to begin employment in the Information Technology (IT) field as  a  Computer Service, PC Support, or Bench Technician, a Retail Sales person, or Help Desk Associate.  Others may continue their education by attending college or trade school, and as a CompTIA A+ certified student has the potential to earn income fixing computers while attending school. Employment opportunities for well-trained IT professionals are abundance if you are willing to travel.  The rapid growth of technology has created a great demand for IT professional positions.


Instructional sequence & POS

Mrs. Michele  Hunter has been working in the computer field for over 25 years. She is a graduate of Edinboro University with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Mathematics.  She graduated Cum Laude and was awarded the Computer Science departmental award.


Prior to coming the Crawford County CTC in 2011, she has held many positions including Computer Analyst, Programmer, Software Specialist, Help Desk Coordinator, Smart Classroom Design and Construction Manager and instructor of business and computer classes.  Mrs. Hunter worked for the Department of Labor and Industry in Harrisburg, Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh, Syscon, Inc. in Virginia (programming for the US Army), and most recently Allegheny College (1990-2003) and Conneaut Valley High School(2006-2011).


Mrs. Hunter returned to school and earned from Mercyhurst College her Pennsylvania Level II Teaching Certification, and later acquired her vocational certification through Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  She is CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ Certified.
