The Program
RECOMMENDATIONS
The Health Occupations Program is designed to offer the foundation of knowledge and skills necessary for a career in the health field. A combination of classroom instruction and hands-on application prepares students for employment in this field. Students also learn clinical skills that are applicable toward the state-tested nurse aide exam. In addition, they receive education on the characteristics and expectations of a health care worker.

Meet The Instructor
Mrs. Cindy Saulsbery graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. After graduation she began her nursing career in the United States Air Force and served as an officer in the Nurse Corps for 4 years.
Mrs. Saulsbery's nursing experience includes Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Home Health, Head Start/Early Head Start Health/Nutrition Coordinator, Long Term Care, Correctional Nursing, and Emergency Room Nursing. Her teaching experience includes Assistant Obstetrical Nursing Instructor at Sharon Regional School of Nursing and Assistant Nursing Instructor for the CCCTC Adult Practical Nursing Program. Mrs Saulsbery also instructs the CCCTC Adult Nurse Aide Program.
Mrs Saulsbery is currently enrolled in the Vocational Instructor Program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Health Occupations student requirements:
- Daily attendance
- Neat professional attire and appearance
- Desire to and notable effort to achieve in school
- Average aptitude in verbal & abstract reasoning
- Numerical ability
- Appropriate language & grammar usage in written & oral
forms as well as accurate spelling
- Uniform & white shoes per class policy
- Watch with second hand
- Blood Pressure Cuff & Stethoscope advised
but not required
- CHRI Clearance
- Mantoux test
- Liability insurance purchase
- Current PA Drivers License or State Issued ID Card
- Nurse Aide Test Fee
EMPLOYMENT
Employment rates are high in the medical field. Multi-skilled health care workers are increasingly in demand to meet the present and predicted needs of the future. Students completing the Health Occupations program have the opportunity to go directly into the job market. Each graduate will have a broad-based knowledge which will enable them to bridge the gap to postsecondary education.
