Trent Zolnai, Precision Machining, 2018

Trent Zolnai is a 2018 graduate of the Precision Machining program and Conneaut Area Senior High School. He is now working in the Engineering department at Starn Tool.

Why did you initially decide to apply for Precision Machining?

I applied to Crawford Tech because many of my family members are in the precision machining trade and I knew it would be something I would enjoy.

Can you talk about your instructor and how they had an impact on your career path?

My instructor encouraged me to problem solve instead of simply asking questions and having others figure it out for me.

What was your education and career path following graduation?

I was hired at Starn Tool during my senior year as a Cooperative Education student. After I graduated they brought me on full-time and I have been here ever since.

Tell us a bit about what you are doing in your career?

I was hired full time at Starn Tool and MFG as a CNC machinist and now am in the engineering department as an estimator and process analyst.

If you could share a piece of advice to students who are considering applying to tech, what would it be?

If you are not sure what you want to do after graduation, and maybe college is not for you, consider going to tech. It is free schooling and allows you to be proficient in many different trades.
