Who is Mr. Decker?: Mr. Decker has been the Special Populations Coordinator at Crawford Tech since 2014. Mr. Decker attended Thiel College for a BA in Sociology and Secondary Education, followed by graduate work at Edinboro University for a Masters’ Degree in Special Education. Mr. Decker has over 30 years’ experience in the field of special education, including Bethesda Children’s Home as a classroom aide, the Gertrude Barber Center as Adult Employment Specialist, and Conneaut School District Learning Support teacher and Transition Coordinator.  

Favorite Part of Teaching: Mr. Decker’s favorite part of working with students is being able to help students and seeing them become more independent as they reach their goals. He enjoys seeing how much students grow up in the 2-3 years they are at Crawford Tech. He also enjoys talking to students and families about their lives outside of school and how they are facing challenges and working as families.

Outside of School: When Mr. Decker is not at work, he enjoys working on projects at home, including construction and gardening. He also loves watching Otters and Pens hockey games. Mr. Decker is married and has a son and daughter and they enjoy many family activities, including playing wheelchair basketball and sled hockey with his son, and skiing and participating in 4 H archery with his daughter. As a family they love to take road trips to visit family and go to concerts. Mr. Decker also has two dogs; Nellie, a German Shepherd and Sherlock, a St. Bernard/Great Pyrenees
